Blast from the Past.....*Popping Sound*

*random chute pops and Miss Bobo slides out. Miss Bobo stumbles and looks as a blaring light approaches and brightens her face. Miss Bobo shields her eyes and opens her mouth. CRASH*

So I guess I am just in for the new years already. I am back *detaches Van Winkle beard*. Seriously folks, thanks for still following. I appreciate the dedication. A lot of things have happened (as usual). Currently working on getting my goodreads reading challenge of 25 books done before the new gigantic baby comes and plunges vomits of doom. (ok ok, I know disgusting image).

Anywho, I have been following up with my other blog: Book Geek Week and have posted some book reviews. On the sidebar there are book trailers for you and any book lover's musing.

As for Rockinglicious news, I changed up on style lately. Don't get me wrong, I still love those alternative dressers out there (goths, punk rockers, emo, scene, skaters,  general rockers, etc). However, I have realized that in the end I want to create my own style just for me.

I want to go outside and express myself. That means Monday I might be corporate goth, Monday evening I might be psychobilly chick on a date; Tuesday I am geeky girl with a fedora hat and suspenders, Wednesday-quirky sunflower hippy; so and so forth.

Always remember, be you. Don't be afraid to wear a pin that says "Loud as my music" or wear a kilt or wear vans from payless. Whatever it is: rock you and make sure your number#1 fan (your mirror) digs it, loves it, and absolutely eats it with joy.

Looking forward to sharing Rockinglicious 4th year with you. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Apologies. But here is a List of Awesome Finds

Heyyy. Sorry for the current MIA status. I got compromised in homework and more work. ("never begging for a paycheck").

I will be posting blog posts at random times until the summer. School is almost over so I have some pockets in time in which I will be posting some stuff.

FYI: if you like being in the know about what is going on outside the world, check out Democracy Now. You can get their app through google play or check out their website: democracynow.org. Never hurts to be informed.

In other news: I have been finding awesome stores online and getting some cool deals off of Etsy. The list goes as follows:

1. LttleShopofHorrors: With the motto "accessories for the alternative chick"; this store holds a variation of punk, psychobilly, and horror themed accessories for females who like to rock it. I bought the zombie bait necklace and got this hair pin with it. I wore it to work and got a nice compliment.

2. FunDotDot: A bracelet store based in Illinois, Chicago this store houses leather bracelets in different styles. Some involve a play in graphics and others are just colorful. I actually bought one with studs that had simple graphics on it. If you love leather bracelets, you will dig this store. Plus, they are sold at affordable prices. Durable+affordable= worth it. FYI: boys, you can also check out this store for your own accessory tastes.

3. ModifyU: I have a thing for creative gauges. If you stretch out your ears to whatever size it is, I think you should accessorize them in style. And this one sells just the right ones.  I haven't bought from here yet, but I am planning to what with affordable prices and crazy colors and all. This store's guages are all made in polymer clay and they even have a few fake guages. The only con is that the store doesn't take custom listings.

4. HomeStudio: I don't know if you have noticed but lately there has been a trend of scrabble tile pendants. Just plain creative and there are so many stores out there in cyberspace doing these necklaces. I am not aware how this trend came about but I do recommend checking this one. The images on their scrabble tile necklaces are cute, fun, and sometimes even funny. They do receive custom sales so don't knock it until you try it.

5. WillsTshirts: Love old shows such as Xena the Warrior Princess, Roswell, Charmed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Well  if you do: you will love this store. "Will Sandy" the Etsy owner of this Etsy shop sells shirts with images of the aforementioned shows along with keychains and tote bags.

Again, my apologies for being MIA but I do hope you find these finds cool enough to invest or at least spread the word.

Thanks for sticking with Rockinglicious!

Happy New Years!! & Some Bytes

picture courtesy of Yoshimie's photobucket album
my handbag (picture courtesy of Justfab.com)
my new boots (picture courtesy of amazon.com)
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYBODY!!! *blows foghorn and dances in confetti*.

Should have done that yesterday but here it is! *continues to tapdance*

Lately on my own time I have been looking for some shoes and handbags to start the new year. Out with the old and in with the new and if you can't get with the new then twist the old to make it new.

I did get a few new stuff under 20 bucks just to save myself some money.

One of them was this awesome handbag straight from this website called Justfab.com.

You can sign up as a member for free with using your email address and you can look for handbags and shoes for only 40 bucks. As a starting member you get $20 off your first purchase. After that the next month that follows, if you can't find what you are looking for or can't buy anything you can click on the button "skip the month" and that's that. The keywords here to click on the buttons because if you don't you get charged 40 bucks on your account as a member. Sounds tricky but you can take the risk if the shoes and handbags are worth it to you.

However, you can always check out amazon.com for rockin' shoes and handbags. Just recently I found some cool ankle boots that are warm inside and all velcro outside. Sounds tacky but the way they look is not.

No strings to tie, just side zippers to zip up and you're done. I got them in brown and so far they have gotten me warm for 3 hours before New Years ball dropped. Talk about awesome. I am planning to somehow put some studs on the straps to give it an edge. When I do, I'll post an update to see how it went, here and on Rockinglicious' tumblr. Otherwise, let me know what you think.

Chika Chika Bombs for News!

Hello! Hello! Long time no post! Classes have been more busy and challenging and now I know some Japanese. So for some of you who do Kobanwa! ("goodnight" since its 7 pm here)
the old banner
Having so much time since the last blogpost, I had a lot of ideas that might interest you guys. And I was thinking of having any of these as a constant part of this blog/magazine (did you know in Japanese magazine means zaashi?!) such as an anonymous advice column or a suggestion coming from you guys. Any suggestion you can give that will make this zaashi blog more interesting and engaging will be welcome at (cupcakeriot45@aol.com) or even in the commenting box below this post. Credit will given to you for the suggestion :)
And on that note, I would like to tell you guys: Rockinglicious now has a tumblr! I thought why not post random memes or things that are part of the alternative-style culture! So far, there is one post but hopefully I would be able to get more posted there. Oh, and Rockinglicious has a facebook too if you want to check updates straight from your facebook news feed, just hit like! (pwease?). I will hopefully be on the trail for some new interviews with underground bands, designers, and random people.

an alternative-styling fairy-tale

In other news, found a fraja-listic tumblr of a designer called KyleX who posts pictures of alternative styling related things ranging from the clothing he makes and wears, to random memes like this one:

I definitely recommend checking out his tumblr for new ideas on a new outfit (or just look at the crazy stuff people wear sometimes). Beware some of the content might be above the PG-13 rating of content (like spiked underwear o.o?) but hopefully you will dig his tumblr and funky crunchy dub-step music playlist.

It's Coming! It's Coming! (music and some news)

It's October and guess what that means: HALLOWEEN IS COMING! ITS COMING! Although, it is my favorite month it has been quite hectic. Despite it all I am expecting to cook up an awesome Halloween blog post in my handy dandy cauldron. If you have any stories to share; funny or rather ho-ho-horrifying send them to cupcakeriot45@aol.com.
As for other news: a blast from the past decade, I have come to introduce you a work of the fantastic macabre straight from the crypts of Los Angeles, California: a band of the name Creature Feature. Founded with band members Curtis Rx and Erik X,  CF creates the realm in which Hallows Eve is every day by using catchy synth rhythms, wicked guitar licks, voice recordings and creepy horror themed lyrics. Listening to their song "Aimed for the Head" I am already hooked line and sinker. Hopefully, like me, you would be hypnotized and enjoying it when listening to their music. Beware! or shall I say MWUAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Tattoo Parking Stop! (an artsy-fartsy post)

one of Quinn's finished masterpieces
Hello all, and apologize for my overall random M.I.A status yet again. I may or may not have stated this before; but classes have long started so many things need and have been done with the purpose of school while I have and continue to also mingle and roam around places. Regardless, I apologize but as I always say: on with the show.
One of the great blogs I have continued to follow was put under hiatus for some technological reasons and in its place there is a twitter account. I am sooooo referring to the awesome twitter link on this blog's sidebar containing the workings of a one very talented Tara Quinn, a tattoo artist, who has quite a groove going. Often there is a quality to her drawings that in a sense remind me of lowbrow art with the splash of colorful surrealism. I strongly suggest to follow her twitter account if you are into surrealist tattoos. She mixes cuteness with brash and often explicit themes. Sooo pleaaaaaase don't hesitate to click on her name above, you will be directed shortly to her tumblr.

Blood Gone Rogue

After Hurricane Irene, things have been quite busy over here in Fort Bobo (sounds so weird). Anyhow, with school approaching I might be a bit off with the blog posts but nevertheless I will continue to bring rockin' news and whatnot.
things just got more black...uh I mean dangerous
And on that note on with the blogposts! : I know I am late on this but if any of you had watched the latest episode of True Blood, there is so much to be speculated of: Eric is back, vampire politics are at a standstill, Sookie has quite a cat in a bag, blood never stops to become a mess, and the witch as usual is getting all the attention.  Although the show is keeping up some of the basics from the original Sookie Stackhouse series, True Blood has veered into different paths that are unforeseen in the books.I actually think its creative where its going.  It has amazed me how many shocking twists there are here; I can only wonder if I am going to stop being amazed at some point and not be amazed anymore. There are only 2 episodes left before this season ends, so I am patient enough to wait for whats to come. I am not having any expectations at all since I am sure its just going to get more weird, dramatic, magical, and lets not forget BLOOD-Y. (don't be afraid to comment your thoughts on this..its much to be discussed among fans)

P.S. what was up with that ending?

Still "Taking Over"

After singing and revisiting some Evanescence oldies with my friends Nicky & Kay last night, I decided to go on a quest. And I have found quite some good results. I went on Evanescence's page and found this song playing in the background. With the new tracks so far on their page, Evanescence has proven that they are not "going under" like many other alternative popular bands that came out in the 2000's. The piano continues to be a strong influence in their music and Amy Lee (still looking good WOOT!) doesn't defraud with her voice intact as usual. Can't wait for more catchy rockin' tracks on October, and of course the video for this song!

Kirsten Vangsness To the Rescue..Yet Again

It's surprising to find out that out of all my blogposts, the most popular one is the one I did on Kirsten Vangsness, one of the main actors on Criminal Minds. (Thank you everyone for reading and continuing to follow my blog!!). And surprisingly a lot of the searches done on that blogpost is "Kirsten Vangsness hot." (YES THICK GIRLS UNITE!).
To this day I still think she is super Rockin' and out of this world. And what is even great is that she is gay! YES PEOPLE SHE IS GAY AND PROUD OF IT! Reading an interview ET did with Vangsness, turns out she has come out of the closet, engaged, and not afraid to play the straight character on Criminal Minds. What a role model right?!
Vangsness playing out her role with her "boyfriend"

With a large fan base gained throughout the original show, she is making things happen with the spin off, Criminal Minds Suspect Behavior while also being in the original Criminal Minds. Gotta love her for being that dedicated, right?
Can't wait for the wedding photos after it happens because so far there aren't any from what I can look. Thanks Kirsten Vangsness for being the supreme actress and not caring to dress like you're "in space." SHINE ON!

Check out the interview:

Shocking or Not Shocking Editorial! Still "Rockin" Issue

Recently I was flipping through a recent issue of Glamour and I saw an article titled “Why Men Love Porn by Jake” written by a consistent male writer. Even though there were a few things that upset me, I, surprisingly, appreciate Jake’s article for expressing the deal with guys and their consistent flux of porn.  A lot of girls get offended or take it personal when they find out their boyfriend or “significant other” has a rather huge collection of porn and playboy magazines. In some cases, the girl even starts to compare herself to the porn star on the screen or the topless girl on the page. That moment of insecurity puts the girl at risk for an argument with herself of whether she is even attractive enough for her boyfriend or for anyone at all.
The thing is except for amateur porn, most of what is on screen is actually acting. Jake himself says: “We know we’re looking at actors whose tanning, depilating and cosmetic surgery regimens are extreme. When I’m with a woman, I want to touch her skin, look in her eyes and, yes, even feel some hair. No one wants to be with a faker, and at some point, all that stuff is faking.” He made sure to clarify the difference between a “lithe, top-heavy, super-orgasmic bombshell” and “soft, sexy real women.”
There were a few things that bothered me of the article. For example he stated that porn can be an opportunity to connect with the significant other. One of his friends that he uses as a reference is quoted saying, “’Watching together can be a way of conveying your fantasies without having to have that awkward conversation.’”
Sure it could be another way to connect in a private moment but at the same time, it could be another way of losing communication in a relationship. There are certain awkward conversations that should happen between two people in order to establish that they both are willing to go the mile, and trust each other to communicate to the other whatever concern or suggestion they think could fit both.
Glamour's Jake
But at least Jake made sure to explain that guys aren’t all sex fiends: “Like you, we crave connection and caring alongside our crazy sex, but now and then we simply want a quick release, and we may get it from the gross, dumb but somehow arousing stuff that we relied on before we found you. It’s separate from the relationship and in no way equal. The thinking, feeling, warm, soft, sexy real women in our lives are just that: real. And there’s not a glowing screen in the world that comes close.”

Just Love Writing!

Again, thank you for reading my blog (for those who do) and still following it. I truly appreciate the support. But for the news at hand, just now I decided to have another blog on the side called Book Geek Week. This blog will be mostly reviewing a book each week. Whether published within the past year or just recently sold in bookstores, I will be posting a book review of my choice. There will be occasional news about a book becoming a movie or an author being at a specific bookstore. There might even be an interview with an author or even a guest blogger appearance. If you are a book lover, check it out. Who knows you might just like it:

One goal Down and A Bucket To Go!

Well guys, I finally started on one of the promised projects: the philosophy blog. I still have to work on it a bit but I already had a start on it. So if any of you are interested in philosophy and what I might contribute to it, visit my new blog called The Endless Bucket. I will hopefully do a blog on theology or something like that. But don't worry Rockinglicious will still go on. I personally don't like ending something that is going really well just because new stuff has been made. But whateverrrrr...

New Year's Good News?

Hey guys, HAPPY NEW YEARS! I am sorry, I have been MIA (missing in action). I have been dealing with some life drama-rama's (I am sure you have your deal too). Anyways! This new year I have decided that part of my resolution is: to write more STUFF! Yes, more stuff! And I know your question would be what must this STUFF consist of? Well, when I started this blog I wanted to talk about "weird" fashion  and other oddball things. So I am going to continue a bit of that goal with a new twist. Now, the twist is a total surprise that all of you readers must figure out on your own as you continue to read, skim, or whatever you do with each blog post I broadcast. (What type of surprise would it be if it wasn't?! cheaaaaa)....In other related news, one of you asked me, or rather, recommended that I write more on theology/Christianity and I have decided to write TWO spankin' new blogs! YES! One on philosophy and another on Christianity/theology (something of the sort). I will be posting news on that later. As for today: may 2011 be a fucking AWESOME experience! love ya
